Random Student Picker
How to use the random student picker
Paste your class roster into the box on the right — one name per line. Names appear on the wheel instantly, each in its own bright segment. Tap the wheel or the big "Spin" button and watch it slow to a stop on a lucky name. Confetti and a big overlay make the moment feel like a small event, which is exactly what makes it work with a class watching.
By default, once a student is picked, their name is quietly removed so every student in the room gets called before anyone repeats. If you'd rather leave everyone in the wheel every time, uncheck "Remove picked students automatically." The "Reset list" button restores every removed name in one click.
Want to reuse the same class list tomorrow? Click "Copy link to this list" — your roster is encoded into the URL so you can bookmark it or paste it into your lesson plan. No account, no saved data on our servers, just a shareable link that reloads the wheel with your names.
Classroom ideas
- Fair cold-calling. Use the wheel to pick who answers a question so it never looks personal — the wheel chose, not you.
- Line-up order. Spin repeatedly to build a random line-up for recess, lunch, or a fire drill.
- Reading turns. Have the wheel decide who reads the next paragraph aloud.
- Random pairs. Spin twice in a row (with auto-remove on) to pick partners for a quick activity.
- Kindness spotlight. Pick a student to receive a compliment from the class — a warm daily ritual.
- Class jobs. Assign roles like line leader, board eraser, or paper passer without any drama.
Fullscreen mode makes the wheel fill the projector or smartboard, with text big enough to read from the back row. The sound toggle stays hidden in fullscreen and defaults to muted, so surprise noises don't derail the room.
